Rhyne Simpson Jr.
Chief Executive Officer
Having spent his career in and around the gypsum
industry, Rhyne Simpson, Jr. is Chief Executive Officer, Federal Gypsum Company. Mr. Simpson
co-founded Republic Gypsum Company in 1961 and Continental Gypsum Company in 1995. At Republic Gypsum,
he served as CEO from 1968 to 1973, during which time the company underwent a successful initial public offering.
At Continental Gypsum, Mr. Simpson was President and CEO from the company's founding in 1995 to March 2000. He
remained co-chairman and a director, and at the time of purchase by Lafarge Gypsum in 2002, Mr. Simpson was Continental Gypsum's
largest stockholder. In addition to 19 years of direct experience in the
gypsum wallboard business, Mr. Simpson has more than 35 years experience in the home building, mortgage and land
development business. He holds a B.A. from The University of Texas (1959) and an M.B.A. from Harvard University
Graduate School of Business (1964).
Michael R. Simpson
Executive Vice President
Following in the family footsteps, Michael R. Simpson - son of Rhyne Simpson, Jr. - is Executive Vice
President, Federal Gypsum Company. Prior to joining Federal Gypsum Company, Mr. Simpson worked in real estate
consulting and development, and the mortgage management information business for more than 15 years.
From 1997 through 2000, Mr. Simpson was in a director position in charge of products, customer service, and quality
control for an aggregator of mortgage information. Since December 2000, he has been with Federal Gypsum, Inc. He holds a
B.S. from Cornell University (1985) and an M.B.A. from The University of Texas (1989).
